TIPS TO TAKE CARE OF SKIN ON DECOLLETAGE

Despite following an elaborate skincare regiment, many of us tend to neglect the décolletage. And in the form of blemishes, redness and wrinkles, this area starts showing signs of ageing sooner than the face. The décolletage consists of the neck, shoulder, chest, upper breast area, and it is important to take care of it as the skin there is delicate and susceptible to external damage. The skin over this area is very thin and has very less sebaceous glands. Hence, the first sign of ageing start appearing here, ’says cosmetic dermatologist Dr Shoba Sudeep. ‘’Low -cut tops, plunging necklines and sari blouses expose the decolletage to sun and external aggressors like pollutions, weather changes and UV rays.

‘USE A MILD CLEANSER & EXFOLIATE REGULARLY’

‘’Use a mild cleanser just like you would use for your face. Also, look at exfoliating this are keeping your skin sensitivity in mind. Moisturize well and when going out, do not forget to use a broad sunscreen,’’ says Dr Shoba, adding that face masks, too, can be applied on the area to help improve the skin texture. That generally, chemical peels with glycolic acid are applied to smoothen, rejuvenate and soften the area to treat damage.
